Love this recipe but I want to make it to take to a cottage with friends and am wondering how long it will last in the fridge? I had something similar at book club recently, so I went looking for a recipe. I made this version recently, and it was pretty delicious.

The black currants really make this dish. However, I might try using white wine vinegar or lime juice or maybe both? to brighten up the flavour a wee bit next time. Also, it lasts easily for a week in my fridge. Hi I wold like to make this recipe but currants are not common where I live. Can you suggest something to substitute for the currants?

What did you have for breakfast for example? Feel free to do the same to avoid stupid questions. And on top of these I put veggies, fruits, spices, fresh herbs, vegan cheeses, faux meat and lox , nuts and seeds. Oh, I love my breakfast toasts!!! Do you like a slice of toast for breakfast as much as I do?

This sounded so delicious, I made it for lunch and ate it as a side salad with grilled chicken. I make homemade hummus using canned black eyed peas instead of chickpeas due to a chickpea allergy and it tastes nearly identical to traditional hummus.

Once hot, add olive oil and shallots and stir. Cook for minutes, or until slightly softened. Then add garlic and cook for minutes more, or until just lightly golden brown.

Remove from heat but leave in skillet. To prepare sauce, add hummus, tahini, dill, maple syrup, and lemon juice to a mixing bowl and whisk to combine. Then thin with hot water until slightly thick but pourable see photo. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

Add cooked, seasoned lentils to the skillet with the garlic and shallot. Add sauce and stir to combine. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley or dill, pita chips or crackers, or vegetables optional. Best when fresh, though leftovers keep stored in the refrigerator for days.

While this makes a great appetizer or snack dip, it would also be delicious over a baked sweet potato or salad for more of a meal.

Lightly season with sea salt and garlic powder and toss. Then arrange on a baking sheet in a single layer and toast on each side for minutes in a degree F C oven or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
