Health Critical step found in DNA repair, cellular aging March 23, 6 min read. This article delves into how stem cell treatments, alongside anti-aging genes, can significantly slow down aging and enhance overall health and lifespan. That takes a few years. Beyond that, the implications of being able to age and rejuvenate tissues, organs, or even entire animals or people are mind-bending.

Age-reversal technology -

Hopefully, they already started a couple of years ago because doing something dramatic, like doubling average lifespan, will take 5 or 6 years to finish.

There are many things which change during aging. This will not correct the other dozen, even if it worked perfectly in humans with no side effects.

There is also the risk that cells will regress too far and forget what they are and create tumors. If you talk to aging scientists, they will likely emphasize the aspect of aging they are working on, and mostly ignore the others.

Methylation may be upstream of some of these, but not all of them. Various types of accumulations with age are unlikely to be addressed. Things like the accumulation of genetic damage. And most of the time correctly repaired, but not all the time. Errors are carried over to the next generation of cells.

And there is this stuff called Glucosepane which accumulates between cells making the tissues stiff, especially arteries, and is implicated in a number of aging diseases. Neither our bodies nor scientists have figured out how to reverse this. There are also the accumulations of misfolded proteins called amyloid.

That stiffens the heart, and make exertion very difficult. How much reverse aging are we talking about? The paper as I understand it spoke of age reversal of only a few years. Will there be a rebound or is the effect permanent?

How about human trials for those of us with little to loose? Old age is the pits. By a small Chance I would like to Volunteer for your study. This has been a Thought throughout my life to stay young looking while we age. Email address is optional.

Before Beyer and his team started their investigative project 10 years ago, the typical ageing study would "just look at differential gene expression," says Beyer. Previous studies, he explains, were asking questions like "When you age, which genes are getting turned on and which genes are getting turned off?

But nobody was asking how the transcription process itself changes as we age, a line of inquiry that could yield insights to ultimately help us reverse, or stop, decline. Transcription is fundamental to Beyer's research as it is the process in which a cell makes an RNA copy of a piece of DNA.

This copy is important because it carries the genetic information needed to make new proteins in a cell. Proteins determine the health and function of the cells, and cells then structure all living things.

Throughout our lives, our cells regenerate, "but each cell is different, and what makes them different are the different genes that are activated in it," explains Beyer. There are many different types of cells in the human body: nerve cells, muscle cells, blood cells, skin cells, and so on.

And because each cell fulfils a different function, a different set of genes are activated transcribed in each cell type. The "machine" - as Beyer calls it - responsible for making the transcription copy of the gene sequences is called Pol II RNA polymerase II.

Previous research had already proven that low-calorie diets and inhibiting insulin signalling - blocking the signal between insulin and cells - could delay ageing and extend lifespan in many animals. Prime Exclusives Investment Ideas Stock Report Plus ePaper Wealth Edition.

Now, after more than a decade of studying and tweaking so-called cellular reprogramming, a number of biotech companies and research labs say they have tantalizing hints the process could be the gateway to an unprecedented new technology for age reversal. By applying limited, controlled doses of the reprogramming proteins to lab animals, the scientists say, they are seeing evidence that the procedure makes the animals—or at least some of their organs—more youthful. In aging, some of these markers get flipped to the wrong positions. Age-reversal technology
